Squidgy heaven, I’ve been using Ultimate Ear Squidy’s for a few months and I’m really impressed…
After trying many types of earplugs over 40+ years of riding (I started young!), I thought I’d try Ultimate products as I now commute 400+ miles a week, with a lot of motorway miles involved and was feeling the impact. Really great experience having the moulds taken, plenty of great advice to ensure I selected the right option and the quality of the product received is excellent.
Really easy to insert / extract, all day long comfortable and the protection they offer is awesome. I arrive fresher, concentrate better whilst riding and I’ve noticed that my tinnitus has improved massively in a short space of time – which is awesome on its own. On the rare occasions I have had to revert to other options, the difference is noticeably less effective. I nearly always have them in reach and use them instead of ear defenders (personal preference) when using strimmers etc. Useful on the tube too (once you use ear protection on the tube you’ll realise how noisy it is!).
I’m so impressed with the product, the next step will be some in ear monitors from Ultimate so I can replace the bog standard sound leaky ear buds I currently use.

Being a bit slow on the uptake, I finally got myself customised ear plugs (after 14 years of bike travel) and then gave them the ultimate test – riding a BMW 1200GS on a 12,000 mile trip from London to Beijing. Crossing mountain ranges, deserts and some of the world’s busiest cities, I wore the ear plugs every day. They were fantastic, and I can’t understand why I haven’t used them before. They fit me perfectly, I love the colours, and most importantly, they were great at eliminating both the wind and engine noise, particularly important when riding for 11 weeks non-stop. I’m now a complete convert to them.

Right second time! I bought a set of these earplugs 18 months ago. They were uncomfortable and tended to lose their seal when I put my helmet on. Recently, I had another set of impressions taken – with the helmet on – and the new earplugs are a completely different shape. They don’t seal until I put the helmet on, then they give a perfect seal that is comfortable all day long.

My SoundEars and Squidgie ear plugs arrived today. After wearing them for 5 minutes it is clear that there is absolutely no comparison between them and the Etoymatic Er-6i I have been using up to now in terms of comfort and isolation. A fellow mariner once described the difference as night and day and he was right. I am absolutely delighted and I only wish I had invested earlier.

The attention to detail is appreciated-
My wife commented that the string is of better quality and the clip is well thought out.
The soft case shows that the motorcyclist safety has been considered. A hard case in a jacket pocket is a real hazard in the event of an accident.
The inclusion of a tube of lubricant and the return of the moulds is a nice touch.
Material is softer and more comfortable than my wife’s Mercury earplugs.
Overall, very pleased with the earplugs.
